Yea, the olive oil I get is local, from Australia. The olive groves are like 15 years new & developed by people who were sick of not having good olive oil available right in the country, & getting a good quality oil imported isn't easy & very expensive.

It's a bit too fruity, tho. Might look for another variety by the same growers.

Fruity olive oil does not mean it's bad...

Fruity &, even slightly bitter, are signs of a good olive oil. There are different varieties that are more or less fruity, too. This is an excellent guide to figuring good olive oil & when it's going/gone bad.
Pretty much what I already knew, but posting articles seems pretty popular.

I guess I meant the winey taste more than fruitiness as a defect. I know that the bitter is good, and I love the taste of bitter olive oil. But I hardly ever have olive oil these days.

In Brooklyn I stopped at a ramen place, got an appetizer called Takoyaki. Fucking delicious.

Been trying to find a place in the area that makes them, closest I've found is an online menu that names them and describes them as "octopus pizza bolls" so I'm not that enthused about trying theirs.

Heard of/seen them anywhere in your eats?
